Pilates is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility, strength, and body awareness, without necessarily building bulk. Two key Pilates' elements are core muscle strength and spinal alignment.

During the first half of the 20th century, a German, physical-culturist Joseph Pilates, developed a system of exercises which intend to strengthen the human mind and body. Pilates believed that mental and physical health are interrelated.1311-pilates-clothes-art

Though these exercises may come across those seen in gymnasiums, we focus on slow movements that engage and use muscles more rather than many repetitions. This belief is spread across our weight-loss and therapy sessions too.

The fundamental intention of a Pilates class is to develop core stability and a uniformly strong and flexible body in the service of integrating and elevating the body, mind and spirit. Joseph Pilates, the founder of Pilates the system of pilates-2exercise (he called it Contrology), was a prolific inventor. He was driven to find as many ways as he could to help people create strong, flexible bodies that move efficiently. He therefore created a sequence of exercises that are done on the mat, and a lot of exercises on what is called Pilates equipment, or apparatus.
